TTE Data for Short Gamma-Ray Bursts

Sample Plot of TTE Data

Sample plot of Time-Tagged Event data, BATSE trigger number 3152 binned to 4-millisecond resolution (click on the plot to see a larger view).

BATSE's Time-Tagged Event (TTE) data has 2-ms resolution, sufficiently good to capture all significant temporal fluctuations in gamma-ray bursts. But since the TTE data buffer is limited to a total of 32768 events, only relatively short bursts (those with T90 duration less than roughly 2 s) are well-covered by this data type; in fact, some intense short bursts are not completely captured with TTE data.
